Melisa Arı has been working as an Interior Architect at Avcı Architects since July 2023. She graduated from Kadir Has University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, in 2023 and began her professional career at Avcı Architects. During her studies, she interned at Avcı Architects, took part in the Peninsula Project at the Galataport construction site, and also carried out various freelance graphic design projects.
Her perspective on architecture was profoundly shaped by Juhani Pallasmaa’s book The Eyes of the Skin, which led her to view architecture not merely as the construction of buildings but as a multilayered connection with human senses, memories, and inner worlds. She mainly takes part in the concept and presentation phases of projects, drawing inspiration from figures such as Daniel Libeskind, Tadao Ando, and Juhani Pallasmaa. She regards the concept development stage as the most critical part of the design process. Her achievements include an Honorable Mention in the “Future of Space and Object National Design Competition” and a published article titled “From 0.12 Micron to Chaos: Housing During the Pandemic Through Data” in Arredo Mento Architecture Magazine.
Beyond her professional work, Arı actively engages with music, dance, painting, photography, and sports. She has performed blues, jazz, and rock on stage, later developing a deep interest in traditional Turkish music and learning to play the cura. She also practices Lindy Hop dance, swimming, nature walks, and fitness to stay active. Architectural sketching with watercolor and pen remains an essential part of her creative process. Her motto is: “Every space that makes you feel more than what is seen reveals the depth of architecture.”
