The domestic lounges at the new Istanbul Airport are the result of an international competition won by Softroom to create 19,000 sqm of lounges that embody Turkish Airline’s new brand philosophy of ‘flow’ within the airport environment. The lounges all feature the signature ‘Flow Wall’ developed by Softroom, which directly forms a seamless passenger journey, by acting as an organising feature that weaves the spaces of the lounges together.
The Flow Wall project, designed for Turkish Airlines new İstanbul airport by Softroom with Avcı Architects as local partner, creates a physical space that embodies Turkish Airlines’ new brand philosophy of ‘flow’ within the airport environment.
Balance Gunesli was one of the five projects including Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Steven Holl Architects, UNStudio and Zaha Hadid Architects, that was shortlisted in the Office – High Rise category.
Kintele Congress Hotel, designed in Brazzaville, Congo, was a finalist in the category of “Hotel and Leisure – Completed Projects” in WAF Awards in Amsterdam on 28-30 Noıvember, 2018. The project is located in the developing area of the Brazzaville, which is at the north of Olympic Center.
In collaboration with The Circle, The Swedish Institute, The Swedish Consulate General in Istanbul and In-Between Design Platform, Equal Spaces / Urban Studies event series discussed the impact of the wood on sustainable architecture and build a dialogue between Turkey and Sweden on urban problems.
Avcı Architects became the winner of the “Office Buildings” category of Architecture, Construction & Design Awards. From Turkey’s first modern underground labyrinth for passive air conditioning, to the meticulously designed shading on the facade, the building speaks volumes about the possibility of feasible, effective, and collaboratively designed sustainable systems.
