BALANCE GUNESLI ANNOUNCED AS FINALIST OF ABB LEAF AWARDS…
Balance Gunesli, a mixed-use development comprising offices, residences and commercial functions designed by Avcı Architects, was shortlised in the “Best Tall Building ” category of ABB Leaf Awards 2019.
In its 17th annual, a record number of entries were received in across 16 diverse categories. As a result of the jury’s evaluations, the projects of leading architectural offices from different countries of the world, including Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Steven Holl Architects, UNStudio and Zaha Hadid Architects, that constitute the reference point for the international architectural community were shortlisted.
As one of the 4 finalist projects in the “Best Tall Building” category, Balance Güneşli will compete with the high-rise buildings of Zaha Hadid Architects, 5 + design and Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. ABB LEAF Awards winners will be announced on October 24, in Berlin.
Balance Gunesli is a mixed use development situated along the Basın Ekspres Road, which is fast-becoming a new business district of Istanbul. The design takes the opposite position to the norm established in similar projects across the city; where developments create a closed, exclusive community that has no relationship to the city or the communities surrounding it. The building draws attention with its design that breaks the mass density of the buildings and creates a street texture that can expand to neighbouring parcels in the future.
