Museum of Slovene Military History as an Experiential Space
Sanja Jurca Avci of AVCI+ has recently completed a concept stage proposal for the newly planned exhibitions in Pivka Park for Military History in Slovenia. The park will, among many outdoor facilities and attractions, include a Museum of Slovene Military History in refurbished barracks and a Museum of Military Vehicles in a new building.
These two contents required two entirely different approaches. The exhibition of Slovene Military History is planned to be shown as a sequence of important chapters of Slovene history, with its most important events, such as WWI and the Slovene War for Independence in ‘91, envisioned as entirely experiential spaces. Furthermore, the rich collection of military vehicles and watercrafts, which includes a submarine, is planned purely as a walk between carefully positioned exhibits with clear signage as the main design intervention.
