WOODLIFE SWEDEN in Turkey puts the user of the built environment in the centre and organizes a couple of event series in Turkey with the aim of promoting use of wood in architecture, design and built environment and promote sustainability.

Core Components

 

  • Exhibitions and Cultural Exchange
    Showcasing sculptural designs, innovative timber projects, and sustainable architecture, the exhibition was launched between 21 October – 12 November 2021 at The Circle, Istanbul

  • Digital Symposium
    A three-day digital symposium (9–11 November 2021) connected stakeholders from Turkey and Sweden, featuring structured talks, case studies, and knowledge sharing on sustainable timber architecture.

  • Geographical Reach and Expansion
    The exhibitions were hosted at Müze Gazhane (Istanbul) and CerModern (Ankara), with mobile exhibition formats planned for Izmir and Hatay.

Building Through Collaboration

 

Woodlife Sweden in Turkey thrives on strong partnerships. Developed with the Swedish Institute, Swedish Wood, Architects Sweden, and a wide range of Turkish collaborators—The Circle, Nobon, AnkaraAks, In-Between Design Platform, Turkish Timber Association, Istanbul Municipality, Müze Gazhane, CerModern, and METU ArchLabs—the project demonstrates the power of collective effort in shaping a sustainable future.

Woodlife Sweden in Turkey is a part of the WOODLIFE SWEDEN which is a platform to boost international collaboration and act as a base for discussions and seminars on urban challenges.

Timber for a Sustainable Future

 

As a renewable and environmentally friendly material, timber takes the lead in reducing the carbon footprint of buildings. By promoting timber in architecture and urban transformation, the project actively contributes to advancing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, placing sustainability at the core of design.
