On a prominent triangular site in Niamey, the hotel aligns with the city’s urban grid, orienting public spaces toward the boulevard, framing river views to the west, and positioning leisure areas for privacy at its southern tip.

Design Approach

Situated on a triangular site along one of Niamey’s main streets, the hotel’s design responds to its civic context and urban grid. The main structure aligns with Boulevard de la République, while banquet halls and dining areas shift axis to align with the city’s broader fabric and have independent forecourt access. Swimming pools at the narrow southern tip maximize privacy behind a gradually transparent wall. The west-facing façade offers uninterrupted views of the Niger River and city, serving as a key landmark with service access on the east and main entrance and parking along the boulevard.

The plan responds to the triangular site by aligning with the urban boulevard while opening toward the river, organizing public and private spaces to balance accessibility, views, and privacy.

The hotel occupies over 21,000 square meters on a triangular plot, leveraging the site’s geometry to organize spaces efficiently and contextually. The plan aligns predominantly with the urban boulevard, anchoring the building firmly within the city’s rhythm. Public and social areas are oriented toward active urban edges, while guest accommodations and wellness facilities are located in quieter zones, enhancing comfort and privacy. Circulation routes are designed to provide clear, intuitive connections between different functional zones, balancing openness with intimate retreats. The strategic spatial hierarchy and zoning reflect a careful consideration of site constraints and programmatic needs, resulting in a cohesive and fluid hospitality experience that caters to both business and leisure travelers.
