Niamey Stripmall

Niger, Niamey
2019

Located in the governmental core of Niamey, this strip mall reinterprets retail as a shaded, walkable, and socially integrated experience. The design turns a linear commercial zone into a dynamic, climatically responsive, and locally rooted urban intervention.

Project Detail

A shaded inner courtyard brings together retail, greenery, and social life under the continuous canopy.

From Shade to Social Life — A Civic Spine for Niamey.

Located in the governmental core of Niamey, along Boulevard de la République, and north of the Palais des Congrès, the Niamey Strip Mall is more than a retail facility. It emerges as an urban connector, weaving together government offices, the National University, and major civic landmarks. Adjacent to a new hotel and embedded in a civic corridor, the project functions as a pedestrian link, commercial anchor, and social magnet.

Shade becomes space, and space becomes community.
The strip mall defines the boulevard edge with a strong, continuous urban presence.
