RODIK MYTHICAL PARK VISITORS'S CENTRE
“Once Upon a Time” is an immersive exhibition inspired by Slovenian folk tales, set in the historic Kazemate Hall of Ljubljana Castle. Each of the six tales is presented through illuminated illustrations and display cabinets nestled within curved tassel installations that define individual storytelling zones. Designed as a looping path, the exhibition offers a layered spatial experience that engages visitors in both directions.

The exhibition at the Visitor Centre in the Rodik village hall complements the walk through the Rodik Mythical Park.
The entrance area is designed as a reception, however, the exhibition is already announced by a red wall, and by a line of light on the floor and ceiling – once the visitors cross it, they step into the exhibition narrative. The curved red wall also serves to guide the visitor’s path.
Inside the exhibition space, the Rodik landscape is recreated with simple scenographic elements – the hills Čuk and Ajdovščina, the stone monolith Baba, and three of the caves in the Rodik area. Exhibition panels distinguish between the mythological content and scientific explanations.

The entire exhibition is interwoven with simple yet engaging interactions – from two children creating »a giant«, to the dazzling flash of the snake Lintver, and from “Baba’s spitting” to three different experiences when entering the “caves.”
The exhibition concludes with a passage through a portal into the “otherworld” and a view of the Rodik surroundings through the eyes of the artist Marko Pogačnik.
