We were invited to do a design competition for a mainly residential but mixed use development in Izmir’s fast developing district of Bornova. Our focus here was, as always, to find a solution that not only maximizes the plot ratio (FAR) of the site but also takes advantage of the views towards the main Izmir bay, while at the same time it also retaining a sense of human scale and community at ground level.
