RIMSKI VRELEC SPA HOTEL

Developed in collaboration with our local partner, Arhionik Architects, the design emerged from a charrette process that emphasized sustainability and integration with the natural surroundings. Rimski Vrelec will be Avcı Architects’ first 100% timber building, showcasing a high degree of energy efficiency. The hotel’s spa will utilize the unique iron-rich water sources in the area, seamlessly blending its functions with the landscape.

DESIGN APPROACH

Rimski Vrelec Spa Hotel, developed by Avcı Architects in Kotlje, Slovenia, is a unique project that aims to offer a sustainable and luxurious experience in harmony with nature. This boutique spa hotel features 26 elegant rooms and 15 glamping units carefully nestled within the surrounding forest. The project highlights the natural beauty of its location while embracing eco-friendly approaches. 

Rimski Vrelec stands as Avcı Architects’ first fully timber structure, reflecting their commitment to sustainability. This structure offers an innovative architectural solution not only environmentally but also aesthetically and functionally. The use of timber enhances the building’s energy efficiency while reducing its carbon footprint, setting a new standard in architecture. Being a 100% timber structure positions Rimski Vrelec at the forefront of sustainable architectural practices. 

The design, developed in collaboration with Arhionik Architects, prioritizes sustainability and harmony with the natural environment. The architectural process was shaped by an understanding that supports the use of local artisans and resources. The natural characteristics of the region are reflected both aesthetically and functionally in the project.

Rising amidst the unique nature of Slovenia, Rimski Vrelec Spa Hotel is taking shape day by day. The construction process is progressing rapidly, and this sustainable timber structure is set to open its doors in 2026. The year 2026 will mark the completion of the hotel, bringing to life a vision of architecture that seamlessly blends with nature. On-site, dedicated teams are working meticulously to preserve the project’s harmony with its surroundings.

The fact that the hotel is a 100% timber structure makes the construction process even more special. The warmth and natural aesthetics of wood not only enhance the design but also make the project unique in terms of 2026’s sustainable architectural approach.
